Statement
Based between Glasgow and London and frequenting Helsinki, Mimi Belilty is an artist, writer, and musician whose practice explores the intersection of sound, space, sculpture and archival materials. As a near graduate of the Glasgow School of Art, her work centres on sourcing and moulding audio from diverse environments — blending rhythmic, acoustic, harmonic, vibratory, and percussive elements with the mundane and the non-musical.
Deeply informed by her heritage and artistic background, Mimi is passionate about constructing immersive spaces that invite reflection, serenity, and discovery. Her process often involves building unique instruments from scrap and found materials, merging craftsmanship with experimentation.
In addition to Mimi’s installations and performances, she is president of Hill52 radio station, and produces weekly radio shows that extend her sonic explorations into the realm of broadcast.
